The Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutes (APAARI) and CIMBAA jointly sponsored a workshop for a range of Indian and international stakeholders and resource persons on the prospects for GM brassicas in India in Feb 2005. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Science's Department of Botechnology were present, as were key scientists and decision makers from Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) institutions active in vegetable reseach, biotechnology and integrated pest management. Indian Agricultural Universities and farmer interests were represented. This document is the conclusions of the workshop as agreed by the attendees at the time (the conclusions were also published in Current Science).
